As recent debilitating storms ravaged Shelburne and surrounding areas, many people went above and beyond the call of duty to help out where ever and whenever they could, bringing about a reminder to all: one of the great things about Shelburne is the very community of Shelburne, the people. Acts of kindness, devotion, and dedication of the PLTC staff in Shelburne did not go unnoticed by MPP Sylvia Jones attended a very special ceremony of thanks to all staff presenting a scroll to Chief Operating Officer of the PLTC, Christine Ozimek. “Shelburne Residence staff came to work 24/7 to ensure the well being of our residents,” commented Ozimek, “Not an easy task just getting to work braving poor roads, blowing snow, and biting cold. We thank each and every person who came to work and cared for these residents and those who tried but couldn't make it in due to closed roads.” On behalf the Residence owners, Edward and Carolyn Ozimek,  Christine Ozimek's parents, a heartfelt expression of thanks was offered, “We believe it's the people of our community at Shelburne that make a difference every day and twice on ‘Snowdays'!” Ozimek added, “In recognition of dedication and determination we'd like to thank people like Leona Benham, Lyn Disson, Pat Leva and Bonnie Walsh who worked double shifts and stayed in town so they could come in if extra help was needed, Trish Hulse, Darlene Walsh and Michelle Whiteway who worked double and triple shifts, Marlene Nash, KellyMachen, Crystal Breyers, Lori Rolston, and Denise Purdy who did their work and helped out in other areas ensuring residents were cared for, Lyn Thompson and Ramandeep Sidhu who changed their hours to meet the needs of the residents, and Lisa Hatcher sheltered co-workers at her house so they could make it back to work for their shift. The list goes on and on.” MPP Jones in presenting the scroll in thanks to all staff of the Residence, noted her gratitude and compliments to the dedication, devotion and level of actual caring exhibited by all during the terrible weather that resulted in an issued State of Emergency. Jones also mentioned that when people look to the decision of living in a Residence, the decision often comes down to the people who will be caring for a loved one commenting, “When considering that aspect, this is a very good place to be,” making reference specifically to the Shelburne Residence. Shelburne's Mayor Ed Crewson perhaps summed up the day most poignantly in his expression of gratitude commenting, “I would like to pay tribute to the men and women who provided their time and went above and beyond the call of duty. Some of the staff stayed two days straight. On behalf of all of Shelburne, I thank you in appreciation for the caring of the people that are so loved by the people of Shelburne. Thank you so much!” For more information about PLTC Residence in Shelburne, located on Robert Street, call 519 925-3746 or e-mail shelburne.info@pltchomes.com By Alex Sher   Shelburne's Mayor Ed Crewson, MPP Sylvia Jones and Chief Operating Officer of PLTC, Christine Ozimek gathered with all the staff of the Residence to acknowledge in deep gratitude their dedicated services caring for precious seniors living in the Residence during an issued State of Emergency this winter.
