After two games, the series was tied when the Alliston squad made good on home ice on Sunday. The Kings won game one of the series on Friday, March 7, in their home barn in Penetang leaving the ice with a narrow 3–2 win over the Hornets. That game was tied at two after the first period. The Kings managed a single in the second frame to take the lead and with no scoring in the final 20 minutes the Penetang squad led the series after the opening game. Game two got underway in Alliston on Sunday night (Mar. 9). Again most of the scoring was done in the first period. This time the Alliston squad had the edge notching three goals by the 7:11 mark in the first period. The Kings responded with two goals to make it a tight game going into the second. A scoreless second frame set the game up for a fast paced third period. The Hornets scored goal number four on a power-play to take a 4–2 lead. They held on for the rest of the game to tie the series with a hometown win. Shelburne's Jamie Bennett is a forward on the Hornets squad and is turning out a solid performance in his first year on the team. After eight playoff games, Bennett has scored four goals and picked up two assists. Several Shelburne players made Junior C squad's this season playing for Alliston, Mount Forest, and Stayner. Those teams have been eliminated leaving Bennett as the only Shelburne Junior C player still on the ice. The Alliston / Penetang series was underway on Tuesday night for game three in Alliston with results not available at press time. Game four is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, in Penetang. Game five is also slated for Penetang home ice on March 14, with game six, if necessary, returning to Alliston on Sunday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. By Brian Lockhart   --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2014-03-12 15:33:03 Post date GMT: 2014-03-12 19:33:03 Post modified date: 2014-03-19 14:08:00 Post modified date GMT: 2014-03-19 18:08:00 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
