Proton Station couple chargedDonald Earl Hare, 44, and Amanda Brent, 43, of Proton Station, have been charged with 73 firearm and firearm-trafficking-related charges. The couple, who were stopped trying to cross the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls with their children were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall Tuesday. According to the Toronto Star, “officers found six handguns, two inert hand grenades, ammunition, over-capacity magazines, and knives allegedly hidden in the couple's van. A seventh handgun was allegedly found on the man.” “Another 34 firearms, including 20 handguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were subsequently seized after police searched the family's home.” The couple had been pulled over initially in an ongoing cross-border smuggling investigation. |
