‘The World’s Oldest Profession’ unveiled at Grace Tipling The Tipling Stage Company, Shelburne's Community Theatre presents Norm Foster's Jenny's House of Joy, a period comedy about the ladies working in the best little brothel in Kansas. When a young woman, running away from a brutal husband, comes looking for a job, Jenny and her girls are amazed by her business savvy and penchant for work in the world's oldest profession. Feathers, frills and furbelows, a brawling and bawling all-female cast and hilarious descriptions of the stints upstairs with the good ole boys, create memorable entertainment as well as empathy for the women who lived by their wits in the Wild West of the 1870s. Classic Norm Foster creations, these ladies will have you laughing and crying at the same time. Directed by Jean Jardine Miller and starring actors from Dundalk, Grand Valley and Markdale as well as Shelburne, Jenny's House of Joy runs April 25th and 26th at 8 p.m., April 27th at 2 p.m. and May 2nd and 3rd at 8 p.m. Tickets – $12 on Fridays and $15 on Saturdays and Sunday – are available at Shelburne Town Hall or online at www.tiplingstagecompany.com |
