Shelburne Library news

Last week was a very exciting and interesting week for me (Rose Dotten, Shelburne Public Library). I spent a week in Arizona on holidays and managed to fit in lots of reading and a wonderful evening at a bookstore called The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale. This is a small independent bookstore that specializes in crime fiction – it was neat to look at their shelf of new releases and realize that I had read more than half of them already!

The purpose of going to this venue was to attend the talk and book signing of my friend, author Hilary Davidson. Hilary just released her fourth book, ‘Blood Always Tells' and was on a cross US and Canada book tour. It was an enjoyable evening, meeting other authors as well and seeing the line-up of authors that will be there over the next year.

I, of course, read Hilary's book and enjoyed it very much. Her previous books focused on Lily Moore, a travel writer who was caught up in murder and intrigue. We have all of Davidson's books at the library so do come in and read them.

One other item of note is that in her acknowledgments, Hilary mentioned Nancy Frater and Book Lore. Hilary did a reading there last year.

Dufferin Reads: One Book One County Time is winding down for the Grand Finale on May 13th with Robert J, Sawyer. We have already sold most of the tickets we allocated for this event, so let us know quickly if you want to attend this amazing night. Robert is a good storyteller and an incredibly knowledgeable author. He has been the winner of numerous awards through various high profile science fiction organizations. However, don't let the genre scare you off. Robert's book, ‘Triggers' is an excellent read and we encourage you to drop by and get a copy. Watch our Facebook page to check on times and any news.

Pizza & Pages: Teen Book Club The next get together, will be this Thursday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. We will all have finished reading ‘Stardust' by Neil Gaiman and we will finish watching the movie as we enjoy our pizza.

Rose's Book Club: May 1 at 2 p.m. Lots of new books to talk about and I can certainly give a synopsis of Hilary Davidson's books and a few others I read while I was away. Come and look at and hear about the many new books I have for you to sign out and read.
