A surprise visitorNo one expects to see this bird on May 1st. I saw a beautiful female snowy owl eating a bufflehead duck off in a field. I could not believe it. She stayed and feasted all day, and sometime through the night she moved on with a full stomach. This bird has a radio tracker on her back, you can just see it in this photo, and is probably one of 20 birds that are being tracked by Project Snowbird. You can Google the project to find out more. Keep your eyes peeled this spring, you never know what you may find! Photo by Jennifer Howard |
