Our cooks were Alan Mills and Fred MacDonald . What a glorious day to celebrate! We rejoiced as we acknowledged our second anniversary of Crossroads Community Church. Our hearts are glad to be part of the community and we thank God for you every day. We worship our Lord with joy! Pastor Don shared announcements and before bringing God's word he prayed,” Lord we praise You for your Word, we are grateful for your calling and your timing. Bless us with your love and grace in Jesus name, Amen.” I think we all struggle with patience don't we? None of us can say we have never lost our patience. Patience is a well sought out virtue but difficult to attain on our own but the Holy Spirit can produce the fruit of patience within us along with many others, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23. Jesus tells us to stay close to Him, spend time with him, on our own we can try to develop these fruit but it will be short lived, with Jesus it will be everlasting, (John 15:4-5). It is true we are not wired to be patient, as a baby we cry and wail to get what we want and may be afraid we won't be attended to but our mothers teach us patience by responding in their consistent good timing. God teaches us the same patience by responding in His good timing and we should learn to trust His guidance, providence and promises to come at just the right time. Impatience is a form of unbelief, distrust that God will come through as He says, we ought to stand firm on His word,(Luke 21:19). Patience is also to be practiced amongst each other but without Jesus in us it is difficult, (Romans 15:3-5). It is a choice for the fruit of patience to ripen in us by nourishing our souls with Bible Reading, Prayer and attending church. We can choose to clothe ourselves with, (Colossians 3:12). It is a choice to control our tempers just as it is a choice with whom we consort with, when we avoid getting angry we will enjoy peace and joy and when we avoid the company of angry people we will preserve our own character, ,(Proverbs 16:32, 22:24-25). Impatience can cause us to be critical, we never know or imagine what people are going through, if we choose to be patient we will better understand and encourage others, (Philippians 2:3). If we ask God for patience He will gladly give it and we will be able to treat others appropriately. If we disagree or get frustrated with someone we ought to get over it quickly, seek to forgive and be forgiven, never should we angrily attack people. Fools love to quarrel but with God's wisdom we will learn to manage our anger, (Ephesians 4:26-27, Proverbs 29:11). Some of us can relate that hardships can cause us to be frustrated and impatient, but God uses them to build our character, especially our patience. God allows us to learn to endure and put our trust in Him and put our faith in action as an example for others to see. We draw closer to God and rely on His strength and promises. Just like students are tested on knowledge, how would we ever know how strong our faith is if we are never put to the test? (2 Corinthians 6:3-6, James 1:3). Beloved God's nature is patient and the more we come close to Him and know Him we will become like Him. Let us lose ourselves in His comforting presence, and He will energize us to carry on through all things. All we have and all we need is with God. The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. So if we surrender our lives to Jesus we won't want to do what is wrong, we will have His grace. At Crossroads we aim to cultivate loving patience with one another to the glory of God for the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise to return, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. So this week I encourage all to Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Asherey Shalom!
