Residents evacuated after smelling gas

Several local stores and private homes had to be evacuated on Tuesday, June 10th, along Owen Sound Street in Shelburne, as the smell of gas filled the air. The Shelburne and District Fire Department was deployed and Enbridge Gas was also at the scene. Firefighters Rob Matthews and Shawn Mac Rae (pictured here) told the Free Press that they did not find the source of the smell, and eventually declared the buildings safe for occupancy.
