Cubs .500 for the week If you look at the numbers, the Mansfield Cubs aren't doing too bad. They have had four tie games this year. If they had tipped those games to the win column with a single run their final numbers would look at lot better. Currently the Mansfield senior squad is in the number nine position in the 15 team North Dufferin Baseball League with a 3–7–4 record. Their June 17, game against the Bolton Brewers was canceled due to weather – the second postponed game this season. The team met up with the Creemore Braves in Creemore on Sunday, June 22, for an afternoon game that earned the Cubs their third win of the season after leaving the diamond with six runs over the two score by Creemore. Back at their home diamond in Mansfield on Wednesday, June 25, the Cubs hosted the fourth place New Lowell Knights. The Knights took a lead on a two-run home run by Steve Baldry, then followed up with a single run homer from Jesse McIntyre. The Cubs got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning when Devon Caldwell connected and drove a home run deep over the fence in left field to bring in a single for the Mansfield squad. Going into the final inning, the Cubs couldn't get on base and had to settle for a 5–1 loss. The Cubs have ten games left on the regular season schedule – six of those games will be at home in Mansfield. They will also have to squeeze in the two postponed games as make-up games sometime before the end of the season. The Bolton Brewers continue to lead the league with 32 points and a 16–3–0 record. They are followed by the Ivy Leafs with 28 points and the Aurora Jays in third place with 25 in the points column. The Cubs will be back in action this Sunday, July 6, when they will host the Clearview Orioles. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. By Brian Lockhart
