Local volunteer honoured

Bev Peart, longtime volunteer at the Shepherds Cupboard Food Bank, received a Community Excellence Award on Monday for her ongoing support and volunteerism within the community.

Nominated by Ardith Dunlop, for many years, Bev volunteered her time at the Food Bank, serving residents in need and assisted Dufferin Oaks with a therapy program by way of bringing her dogs in for residents to visit with.

She successfully arranged a partnership with the SPCA and the food bank that allowed her to stock food bank shelves with cat and dog food. Bev's efforts will truly be missed by the staff at the food bank and Dufferin Oaks.

Mayor Crewson presented Bev with the Community Excellence Award commending her dedication and outstanding contribution to the community of Shelburne.
