Fire Department Day at the Farmers’ Market

Shelburne's Fire Chief Steven Horsley and fire fighter Rob Seller spent the afternoon at the Shelburne Farmers' Market on July 10th for Fire Department Day. They were there for Fire Department Day, giving demonstrations, fire truck tours and fire safety information to market visitors and their families. Fire Department Day is one of six special event days at the Farmers' Market this summer. Previous events included the Grand Opening in May and Farm Day in June, both with fun activities for the kids including baby animals, face painting, balloons, music and magic in addition to all the great local food and products brought in by area farmers and craftsmen. Additional special event days include Corn Roast Day August 14th, Potato Day September 11th, and Catapult Pumpkin Launch Day October 2nd presented by the Centre Dufferin District High School (CDDHS) Robotics' Club. CDDHS students were on hand earlier in the summer and will reappear again in the fall selling their popular wood and metal furniture and crafts made by the students. Shelburne Farmers' Market is back for its second year at Besley's Farm 716 Victoria Street; running weekly from 3 – 7 p.m., it's a great place to spend every Thursday afternoon, meet friends and neighbours, support area food producers and artisans, and join the “real food revolution” by eating local, fresh food from Dufferin County. For information on how to eat local, visit Ontario's own Shelburne Farmers' Market on Facebook.
