More stunt drivers

On Saturday July 12th a police officer charged a 24 year old Cambridge male for stunt driving after he was caught for moving at 81 kph over the speed limit – 141kph in a 60 kph zone.

On Monday July 14th, an officer investigated a motorcycle that was first observed travelling at 196kph in an 80 zone on Highway 89, then at 112 kph in a 60 zone on 2nd line in the Town of Shelburne. As a result 26 year old William Penney was charged with stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

His driver's licence was seized on the spot and suspended for 7 days. His motorcycle was also impounded for 7 days. The driver was given a court date in August to answer to the charge. If convicted he faces a minimum fine of $2,000 and a maximum fine of $10,000.

The Shelburne Police is reminding everyone to drive safely – including at a safe speed. Higher speeds increase the risk of a collision as well as the seriousness of a collision.
