Shelburne Library newsChildren's Programs This is the very last week that we can accept any new Registrants for the Children's TD Summer Reading program. However, we are happy to see all young readers and welcome them to our special events. Special Guest: Anthony Farnell, Global Meteorologist- Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. This week we are thrilled to have Anthony with us to talk about serious and humorous aspects of the weather. His talk will be particularly relevant due to some of the serious weather disturbances we have had both locally and around the world NEW!! Paws to Read We have had our first session with Mac our canine friend who loves to have children read to him. We had 2 young people this week and they were very excited about doing this. Every Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Mac will be available for children to read to him. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a warm and friendly “listener”, and a great experience for children. His trainer will be there. Mac is certified to work with children and seniors. We do need a minimum of 4 children for the program but each child will individually read to Mac for 15 minutes. Please register by Friday of each week. Teen and ‘Tween Programs Pizza & Pages, Thursday, July 24 at 6 p.m. This is our monthly book club for our teens and tweens. New members are always welcome. Emily will be leading the discussion about, All Good Children by Catherine Austen. The next book, The Selection by Kiera Cass will be the focus of the August 14th Pizza & Pages. Special session – Make-Up- Wednesday, August 6 at 10:30 a.m. We are pleased to present professional make-up artist, Sharon Betton from Clean Slate Cosmetics who presented a wonderful make-up session last summer. This year, she will coach the participants in making their own lip gloss and talking about some secrets of the cosmetic and make-up trade. This event is free but please register so we can ensure that we have enough supplies for everyone Book, Books and more Books We are just in the midst of our late summer and fall book ordering. This is a mammoth but enjoyable task… what is even more fun is when the boxes start coming in and it is like birthday and Christmas celebrations all rolled into one.
