Welcoming back online students

It is a busy time over at the local Contact North / Contact Nord online learning centre in Shelburne as students are returning to the virtual classroom as well.
As more programs and courses become available online, students in the Shelburne area are taking advantage of the opportunity to remain in their community while pursuing programs and courses offered by public post-secondary institutions and training providers.
Sylvia Diesveld is completing her Food Service Worker certificate from Loyalist College through the support of Contact North / Contact Nord.
“The online courses give me the flexibility to work and learn at the same time. For me it is a win-win situation,” said Diesveld.
Knowing that she can get support to register for her courses, attend classes from the Contact North online learning centre and receive encouragement throughout her studies makes learning at a distance more of a suitable option.
“We are here to ensure that living in a rural community is not a barrier to pursuing educational goals,” said Catharine Robb-Williams, online learning recruitment officer for the Contact North / Contact Nord online learning centre in Shelburne.
Contact North / Contact Nord is Ontario's distance education and training network serving more than 600 small, rural, remote, Aboriginal and Francophone communities across the province through its 112 local online learning centres.
The local online learning centre is located at 167 Centre Street Entrance E.
