Boeing Boeing lands in Shelburne

Once, one of the most popular comedies in European theatre, the classic French farce Boeing Boeing will land on Grace Tipling stage this weekend. Dundalk Little Theatre brings the show to Shelburne with a cast of local amateur actors who will be familiar to many. The Dundalk Town Hall stage, home to the group, is no longer available for assembly use; with the support of the Tipling Stage Company, the group is excited by this opportunity to perform in Shelburne.
Originally set in the 1960's, Boeing Boeing is a farcical romp through the love life of a flirtatious Parisian architect Bernard who takes on three flight attendant fiancées; an American, an Italian, and a German. Things get complicated by the arrival of faster jets and his country friend Robert who has trouble navigating Bernard's female flight schedule. Turbulence ensues resulting in a bumpy and often hilarious ride for everyone.
The cast includes Lori Stringer as Gloria, the lovely American stewardess; Chris Wright as Bernard the cheeky architect; Peggy Luxton as the comical house keeper Bertha; Ted Acheson as the unwitting Robert; Vicki Singh as the feisty Italian stewardess; and the hilarious Kim Peeters as the German stewardess. The show is stage managed by Gary Stringer, directed by Peter Richards, and produced by Debbie Wright, with lights and sound by Wayne Peeters.
According to Lori Stringer, “Dundalk Little Theatre (DLT) was the inspiration of Audrey Oldfield, who was employed at Grey Highlands Secondary School, when she dreamed of Dundalk having a community theatre group. She felt it would provide affordable and enjoyable entertainment for area residents, and allow them to work toward enhancing their theatre skills. Her dream became a reality in 1996, and DLT has put on two, sometimes three productions each year since, performing Broadway musicals every other fall since 2000.”
Peter Richards, the director for Boeing Boeing, “thanks the Tipling Co. for allowing us the use of the theatre. I would like to thank my wonderful cast and crew for weaving their way through this complicated farce.” Dundalk Little Theatre will be performing the comedy “Boeing Boeing” in the Shelburne Town Hall, 203 Main St., Shelburne, at 8 p.m. Friday, September 26; at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, September 27; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28.
Pre-theatre roast beef dinners will be served at the Shelburne Agriculture Centre at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Theatre tickets to Boeing Boeing are $15; dinner tickets are $14. All tickets available at Dundalk library Wednesdays and Fridays 1 – 3 p.m. Theatre Tickets are available at the door. Call Pat at 519 923-2616 (not the library) for reserved seating.
