“Thank you” from The Bahati ProjectShelburne Golf and Country Club held a fundraising golf tournament hosted by non- profit charity organization, the Bahati Project , Co-Founded by three local young women and former Centre Dufferin District High School graduates, sisters, Jenn and Megan Kelk and Anne-Marie Montgomery. If you have ever wandered if you could make a positive difference in the world even if you are from somewhere very small as the Town of Shelburne, prepare yourself for inspiration as many come to find out, Shelburne may be small, but it's mighty and the Bahati Project touches the lives of those a world away. The Bahati Project travel to Tanzania, and although this place sounds exotic, it is in ever great need of help and it's people, in ever great need of support. The word, “bahati” means success and that is what the Bahati Project are striving towards, the success of Pippi House, a safe house for girls, Newlands Orphanage, and a pre- primary school, Meru View School. The Bahati Project are hoping to raise the $12,000 needed to build a well for the orphanage, in addition to so many other things so desperately needed. Ambitious goals that Dufferin County and surrounding area are directly responsible for contributing to during the Bahati Project's “Baha-Tee” Fund Raising Golf Tournament held on Saturday September 20th at the Shelburne Golf and Country Club. And what does the Bahati Project have to say to their community? “Thank you so much. We think it was a pretty good success. We ended up having 80 people in total, and raised $5,996. It was a great day, and despite a little rain, everyone had a really good time. We want to thank all of our sponsors, donors, the Shelburne Golf and Country Club, and everyone who came out to support us in the tournament. We are overwhelmed with gratitude and are very thankful for all the support from our friends, family and community. With the money we raised from the tournament we hope that we will be one step closer to building the well for the orphanage, school fees for the children and girls as well as food, fruits and vegetables and other basic supplies, ” a message from Jenn and Megan Kelk, and Anne-Marie Montgomery, Co-Founders of the Bahati Project.
