<content-encoded><![CDATA[Dear editor:
Howdy Folks. I hope that Mulmur councillor, Keith Lowry had “lots of fun” as the brochure says, at the 4-day recreation conference he attended in Calabogie September 21 – 24.
The conference cost the ratepayers of Mulmur $1575, as per motion 154–15. But not to worry his attendance was in alignment with the Mulmur Strategic Plan. Interesting that Mr. Lowry's election platform included his spearheading the Strategic Plan.
Now I am all for council members being educated on matters of town business though I am concerned that only too often they miss the point. Fifteen hundred dollars could be well spent on recreation development as opposed to a vision.
According to Mulmur's' guiding principles and goals of recreation they want to encourage access to residents and visitors. When they are promoting “Mulmur as a destination for historic, athletic, and gastronomic recreation” do they include motorcycle touring? I wonder what it is they mean by “gastronomic recreation”?
PS – The Mansfield Message Board is a disgrace and for anyone who wants to learn “The Olde Tyme Calabogie Shuffle” contact Councillor Lowry.
Old Silver Pen,
Jim Pendleton
