In 2013, animal lovers everywhere raised over 400,000 for their favorite charities. The idea is to bake cupcakes, have a cupcake party, or bring the cupcakes to work, receive donations in exchange for a cupcake and make a difference to animals that are unwanted, abused, need critical care, are abandoned or neglected. For more information go www.facebook.com/nationalcupcakeday, or call Paws and Claws, the SPCA Thrift Store in Shelburne, located on Main St. at 519 925-9956. Pictured, from left: Local SPCA volunteer at Shelburne's Paws &Claws, Marg Robertson is happy to take part in the SPCA and Humane Society's Fundraising Event, National Cupcake Day, where regular supporter, Barbara Monette makes her contribution and enjoys a cupcake.
