On Monday May 13, 2019 Shelburne Police responded to three different businesses reporting that they were victims of fraud.

Shelburne Police continues to investigate the allegations and seeking help from the public to identify the female suspect.  The suspect is described as:

• Female white

• Red dyed hair

• Medium to heavy build

• 18 to 35 years of age

• Wearing Large white visor, blue coat, blue scarf, blue and white patterned tight pants, black ankle boots and carrying a black purse

All three businesses were targeted on the same day.

The suspect would attend mutliple cashiers and have a small purchase.  The suspect would then pay with large bills and ask for change for additional large bills purposely confusing and manipulating the cashier.

The suspect stole a total of almost $1,500 from the three targeted stores.

Fatality on County 109

Members of Dufferin OPP detachment along with Dufferin Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Grand Valley and District Fire Department were called to a three-vehicle collision on County Road 109 at the 9th Line of Amaranth last Friday evening, May 10.

Bradley Roorda, 58, of East Garafraxa was transported to Headwaters Health Care Centre where he was pronounced deceased, while four others were treated there with non-life threatening injuries.  

The Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) Unit of the OPP investigated the crash, which involved two SUV's and a commercial van. 

Police say the investigation determined that one of the SUV's that was travelling eastbound crossed over the centre line striking the oncoming vehicles. No charges are expected to be laid.

Complaint results in impaired 

driving charge

Orangeville Police arrested and charged a 28-year-old Brampton man with impaired driving after police received a report of erratic driving.

On Monday, May 6, at approximately 10:56 p.m., police received a complaint of a black Subaru being driven erratically on Highway 10 northbound from Caledon. Police located and stopped the vehicle on Riddell Road near the intersection of Townline.

As a result of the police investigation, Rajdeep Singh Sahota, 28, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg/100mL.

The accused man received a mandatory 90 day licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on May 21 to answer to the allegations.

The OPS thanked “the vigilant members of the public who help keep our roads safe by reporting erratic and possible impaired drivers.”

Scarborough woman clocked at 

103 km/h on West Broadway

Orangeville Police have charged a 63-year-old Scarborough woman whose car was clocked travelling 53 km/h over the posted 50 km/h speed limit on Broadway, Tuesday morning.

An Orangeville Police officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Broadway in the area of Diane Drive, an area with a posted 50 km/h zone where police receive many complaints regarding excessive speeds. At about 11:15 a.m., police observed a blue Volkswagen Jetta travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer's radar device clocked the vehicle travelling at 103 km/h. 

The driver was directed to stop and as a result of the investigation was charged with stunt driving (going more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit). Police seized the vehicle to be impounded for seven days and the driver received a seven-day licence suspension. She is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on June 5, to answer to the allegations.
