Town of Shelburne certifies candidates running in 2026 municipal election

Candidates running for mayor, deputy mayor, and councillor will battle it out this fall, as they promote their platforms and goals to the public in an effort to secure a seat on Shelburne council.

A total of 13 candidates have been certified by the town clerk to run in the upcoming election, challenging incumbents seeking reelection for another term.

Incumbent Mayor Wade Mills has a challenger in aspiring candidate Pratheeb Uthavakumar, a Shelburne-based lawyer.

The position of deputy mayor will be more hotly contested as the incumbent, Shane Hall, is not seeking reelection, leaving the seat open to three challengers. Sitting Councillor Len Guchardi is seeking this position, along with two challengers, Mike Green and Andrea Knight.

A bigger race will be heating up for the five councillor seats in Shelburne, as only two currently sitting councillors are certified as running for reelection: Kyle Fegan and Lindsay Wegener.

New candidates seeking election include Donald Paul Williams, Jim Bates, Lynda Buffett, Alethia O'Hara-Stephenson, Brad Reid and Sohayla Smith.

The candidates, both incumbent and aspiring, will make their cases to the public on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.
