Treats in the Street brings Halloween magic to downtown ShelburneWritten By JOSHUA DRAKES LOCAL JOURNALISM INITIATIVE REPORTER Treats in the Street celebration returns Saturday, Oct. 24, inviting families to enjoy a festive Halloween adventure while discovering local businesses, all contained to downtown Shelburne The annual event is hosted by the Shelburne Business Improvement Area (BIA) in partnership with the Town of Shelburne. The free, family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and promises an opportunity for children and parents to celebrate the season together. The event will get started at Jack Downing Park, where trick-or-treaters can pick up a treat bag and a ballot for the Great Pumpkin Hunt. From there, families can explore participating businesses along Main Street and Owen Sound Street together, collecting treats and taking part in Halloween-themed activities. The event encourages residents to experience the heart of their community. The celebration also highlights the role small businesses and community partnerships play in creating memorable local traditions. By bringing families into the downtown core, Treats in the Street can offer participants a lively introduction to Shelburne's shops and services in a relaxed, seasonal setting. Organizers are also encouraging attendees to support local families in need through donations to the community food bank. Families are encouraged to arrive in costume and make time to explore the participating businesses throughout the morning and early afternoon. As Shelburne prepares for another Halloween season, Treats in the Street is an opportunity for neighbours to connect, local businesses to shine, and children to make some lasting autumn memories before the seasons switch towards winter. The event will also be running alongside Shelburne's Haunt in the Park, which will be running its Mini-Boo event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering those not looking for too much fright an opportunity to experience the Haunt during the daytime. |
