While in bedroom the male suspect then stole several pieces of expensive jewellery without knowledge of victim. The suspect was referred to victim by friend. These types of crime are not new, and are very often preventable through community engagement; empowering communities to play an active role in crime reduction initiatives. Police are reminding residents to contact the OPP Communications Centre immediately at 1-888-310-1122 to report any suspicious activity or suspicious vehicles in the area. Information such as suspect physical descriptions, suspect vehicles and direction of travel are useful tools for investigators. Police also remind residents to be cautious in answering door at their residence and letting strangers into residence without adult family members present.
