Remembrance Day in Shelburne began with Opening Ceremonies at the Shelburne Legion 220 Branch. Beginning with ‘O Canada’ performed by Joan Wallace, Master of Ceremony, Reverend Gord Horsely continued, clearly expressing the sentiment all felt as gratitude for our Veterans was first and foremost thanking everyone involved in the preparation of the ceremonies, the audience for their attendance, the speakers, and the 164 Squadron Air Cadets and the Legion Branch 220 members for making it all possible.
Local dignitaries included Shelburne Mayor Ed Crewson, representative for MP David Tilson Rachel Winter, and representative for MPP Sylvia Jones Lavinia Trask.
Well known singer Murray Irwin performed songs envoking tears from some.
Reverend Bob McLean delivered Prayers for Peace, Comrade Linda Orvis delivered the reading of the names of the fallen from 1914–1918 and Joan Wallace read the names of the fallen from 1939–1945.
The Colour Party, with their usual distinct professionalism composed with poise delivered the Sergeant at Arms.
