Quilts of Valour Dufferin County

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was an organization who was working towards making certain every WWII Veteran was given a Quilt of Valour? Well, it’s happening.
Only in production for the past ten months, volunteer members of the Quilts of Valour for Dufferin County we able to complete and donate 18 quilts to Veterans following an Appreciation dinner held at the Shelburne Legion 200 Branch hosted by the Shelburne Air Cadets 164 Squadron. It is their vow to make certain every WWII Veteran in Dufferin County they are notified of will receive a beautiful hand crafted quilt until every Veteran has one.
If any Veteran at the Veteran Appreciation Dinner did not receive a quilt, you can bet it’s in the works!
If you are a WWII Veteran or know of a Veteran who is not yet known to the organization, they request you call them and notify them. Judy MacLeod spearheaded the project, now approximately 12 members strong, under the guidelines set by the QOV and she can be contacted at 519 216-7575. As they are completely reliable on donations of fabric and funds it’s paramount that the community be made aware of their noble mission.
The group will meet once a month beginning January 21st and February 24th at the Shelburne Legion and encourage anyone interested in quilting join them citing there are beginner quilting packs ready to go and beginners are welcome. If you don’t have a sewing machine, simply notify MacLeod and one will be provided for your use.
Each Quilt given comes with matching oversized pillow case or storage bag. To see the look on the veteran’s faces says it all as they read their individually name labelled quilt given to them in love, thanks and appreciation.
