Dear editor:
I’d like to say a few words about Remembrance Day and the freedom we have achieved by the men that died for it.
I lived through the War but was too young to be a part of it, but my father was. All I have heard through the years are shootings, stabbings, gangs and drugs. We now have more security in Ottawa, more security in schools and cameras everywhere! Freedom!
I have a good friend who was in the Air Force during the War. He was a gunner. I was visiting him last week. He had been moved from Brampton nursing home to the ‘Avalon Nursing Home’ in Orangeville. I was absolutely appalled at the room he was in. Four men in a dark dingy room that smelled. He was the only War Vet in the room. I am sorry to say I was pretty disgusted if that is the way some Vets are treated.
I just had to say something.
Dorothy McNab,
Beeton
