Aaron McGill from Amaranth, had a welcome surprise this week when the Shelburne Minor Hockey Association drew his name in its January 1st draw for the Cash Calendar $1,000 prize. The Hockey Association fund raises by selling tickets for their 2014/2015 season through the Cash Calendars, with all proceeds going back to the club. Last year’s event helped to purchase new jerseys for the teams. A ticket is drawn every day from January 1st until March 31st and lucky winners can receive a $100 prize every day. The first big draw to get the ball rolling was the $1,000 prize of gift cards. Aaron has two sons in minor hockey, Jaden and Mason. “I was thrilled (to learn that I had won),” said Aaron. “I really didn’t think I would win. I never win anything.” Aaron plans to spend his winnings this weekend on a family shopping spree. The Cash Calendar is a great fundraiser which helps the hockey club immensely, and once a name is drawn it goes back in the barrel, giving all participants multiple chances to win.
