Patients and visitors coming to Stevenson Memorial Hospital will not experience any internal disruptions in accessing care at the hospital during strike action by Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) members of the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA).
The CCAC’s ONA members went on strike at midnight, January 30, 2015. While ONA members employed at Stevenson are not on strike, the labour action could result in some delays for patient discharges. Contingency plans are in place to do everything to prevent impact on patient care.
“We have been assured that the CCAC has solid contingency plans to do everything possible to ensure that any disruptions are minimized for patients who may require services upon discharge,” said Shannon Landry, VP and Chief Nursing Officer. “CCAC administration has ensured they will provide in-hospital regulated health professional coverage as required during this labour dispute, so that we can continue to discharge patients safely home with the community supports they require.”
Safety of patients, visitors and staff is the top priority at Stevenson and steps will be taken to maintain this safeenvironment during this labour dispute.
