On March 27th, representatives from the local RBC Royal Bank branches presented Headwaters Health Care Foundation with a cheque for $25,000, the final payment of RBC’s $100,000 pledge to the Commitment to Care Campaign. RBC’s generous contribution will be recognized through the tele-mental health program at the Hospital.
Tele-mental health is the delivery of mental health services using live, interactive videoconferencing, mainly in rural and underserved communities. Use at Headwaters Health Care Centre has increased the quality of mental health services in the area, especially for children and adolescents, and has decreased long wait and travel times to other facilities.
The five-year, $16 million Commitment to Care Campaign supports three distinct areas of growth at Headwaters Health Care Centre:
• $5.5 million expansion and renovation of outpatient facilities in the Ambulatory Care Unit, allowing for additional procedure rooms, expanded outpatient clinics such as chemotherapy, orthopedics and dialysis, and a fourth operating room to increase surgical capacity.
• $3 million for the purchase of specialized pieces of state-of-the-art medical equipment costing $100,000 or more.
• $7.5 million for new and upgraded equipment throughout the hospital.
The Commitment to Care Campaign has now reached over $14 million raised to date.
