Dear editor:
It is with great Appreciation that the Town of Shelburne acknowledged National Autism Awareness Day by ‘Lighting it Up Blue’ at the Municipal Office on April 2 and by proclaiming the day as Autism Awareness Day in Shelburne.
Thank you to Councillor Wade Mills for taking time today to present the proclamation for ‘Autism Awareness Day’ in Shelburne at the school and for the kind words.
I would like to put out a huge thank you to Mitch Zuk, Principal at Hyland Heights for all his support and involvement that you have given me with the Autism Awareness Day activities at the school. Without your encouragement and eagerness to promote this day it would not have been possible.
Everyone loved the Autism wristbands and pins that you so graciously supplied.
Also I would like to extend a big thank you to all the mom’s and the children who participated (in Autism Awareness Day activities at Highland Heights).
You and your children are the reason I went on this mission to spread the word about autism awareness.
To each and every one of you, than you from the bottom of my heart, for sharing your experiences with me, and allowing me to advocate for these beautiful children. Each and everyone of you have become very special to me.
You all are amazing parents and should be very proud of yourselves, and remember that there is always hope.
I would like to say thank you to Wendy Gabrek from the Shelburne Free Press for your amazing coverage of all the Autism Awareness activities, and all your support in promoting the Fundraiser Acapella for Autism for Autism Canada. You have been fabulous to work with.
My last thank you goes to Mairi MacRae for the beautiful picture that you presented me with and for all your support and encouragement. It has meant so much to me.
Deanna Avison,
Shelburne
