Dufferin County Cultural Resource Circle, CFUW Orangeville & District in partnership with DAREarts First Roots, is presenting a Cultural Heritage Symposium “Indigenous Women Rising”.
Indigenous knowledge is a celebration like no other. Indigenous knowledge values that knowledge is in many places and that different people learn in different ways such as through song, stories, wampum diplomacy, and dancing.
This event is sure to offer you a version of Canada history that will open both your minds and your hearts to the sophistication of Indigenous knowledge and Indigenous culture.
Indigenous Women Rising is a special event where Indigenous women will share their stories, songs, and dancing. Featuring speakers, performers, and advocates such as Dr. Lynn Gehl, Cathy Elliott, and Kim Newby.
This event was created to empower Indigenous women and aid in fundraising for Honouring Youth Pow Wow which is taking place on June 19th to 21st at Island Lake Conservation Area.
Tickets are $40.
The event takes place at Westside Secondary Auditorium, 300 Alder Street, Orangeville, on Saturday, May 23rd; from 1 – 4:30 p.m. Call 519 216-1219 for tickets or additional information.
