It’s Police Week – discover policing

May 13, 2015   ·   0 Comments

The Shelburne Police Service is inviting the community to join us in celebrating Police Week May from May 10 to 16. Since 1970, Police Week has been observed in May to coincide with Peace Officers Memorial Day, recognized internationally on May 15. This year’s theme, Discover Policing, invites everyone to discover the many ways our police service is working to keep our communities safe. Police Week also encourages citizens to consider a rewarding and fulfilling career in law enforcement.
Police Week provides an opportunity for members of police services to connect with the citizens they serve and showcase what police officers and other personnel do to contribute to community safety and well-being. This year, the 2015 theme – discover policing – invites anyone interested in a law enforcement career to explore the many opportunities within policing.
Because of the varied nature of police work, policing lets people apply the skills and experiences they’ve developed from their previous training, education, professional, and personal life. Policing offers opportunities for personal growth, continuous learning, a high level of job satisfaction, opportunities for specialization and for promotion as well as an excellent salary, benefits, and pension.
