Let the bells ring out

June 4, 2015   ·   0 Comments

The 90th Anniversary of the United Church of Canada will be celebrated with the ringing of church bells across the nation on June 10th at 10:30 a.m. Congregations will ring their bells 90 times to mark the event. Trinity Church, at the corner of Owen Sound and First Streets in Shelburne, was built in 1902 as Knox Presbyterian, which became known as Knox United in the 1920’s. The Shelburne church then joined the union of Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational, and the General Council of the Local Union Churches to become Trinity United Church in 1939, several years after the birth of the United Church of Canada in 1925. On June 10th, Trinity will join in the joyful noise of celebration with bell ringing at 10:30 a.m. followed by a hymn sing inside, a brief history of the church and a light lunch with cake. All are welcome to join in the celebrations.
