2015 Pan Am Torch Relay visits Shelburne!

On Friday June 20th, despite the rain, the 2015 Pan Am Torch Relay made a stop in Shelburne at Hyland Heights Elementary School to the delight of many.
From Shelburne it travelled to Alliston and Beeton before visiting Mono and the Pan Am Cross-Country Center, the official TORONTO 2015 venue for cross-country equestrian events. Fittingly, the flame completed the leg of the relay with the help of horse power and Olympic and Pan Am equestrian athlete Jessica Phoenix.
The relay day concluded in Orangeville with a community celebration at the Tony Rose Memorial Centre, where Brian Price, Olympic mulit-medalist in rowing, was the final torchbearer.
The Pan Am flame will continue its journey making is way through various towns and concludes July 10th with the dramatic lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony in downtown Toronto. These games are funded by the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario as well as Lead Partner CIBC and other partners and sponsors.
Great tickets to the Pan Am Games are still available, but gold-medal sessions are selling quickly! The ticket program has been designed to be affordable and accessible for everyone by offering Integrated tickets: meaning every event ticket will allow the holder to access transit on the day of the event and Affordable Pricing: tickets start at just $20, with 75% of tickets priced at $45 and under. Half price tickets are available for persons under 16 years of age, or 65 and over. Tickets for the Parapan Am sporting events will range from $20 to $35 for adults, with youth (under 16) and senior (65+) discounts from $10 to $12.50 available, depending on the event. Please note that discounted tickets are limited, so buy early.
