The Shelburne Sharks gave up a huge loss to the Alliston Coyotes Monday (Oct. 19) night at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex in Shelburne.
After a first period that saw the Sharks scrambling to keep the Coyotes out of their zone the Shelburne squad allowed five unanswered Alliston goals to end the period.
It didn’t get any better in the second frame when six more Alliston goals lit up the scoreboard.
The Sharks managed to score a single from David Hooper late in the period.
Hooper got his second of the game early in the third period but from there is was all downhill when the Coyotes finished the game with three more to end the night with a 14–2 loss for the Sharks.
The Sharks are still looking for their second win of the season. Their only game on the plus came on September 14, when the had a 6–4 win over the Orangeville Ice Crushers.
The loss leaves the Sharks in the number ten spot in the Central Division of the Greater Metro Hockey League.
The Coyotes are leading the Division with a 9–1 record and 18 points.
Over all, the Kingsville Kings of the South Division are leading the league with an undefeated record after 11 games.
The Sharks will be on the road to take on the Grey Highlands Bravehearst on Friday, September 23.
They won’t have a home game this coming Monday. Instead they will be playing the Grey County Grizzlies in Feversham.
They will return to home ice in Shelburne on Monday, November 1, to host the Alliston Coyotes.
Game time is 8:30 p.m.
