Local man charged with probation breaches, assault and resisting arrest

On October 27th Shelburne Police was alerted that a local man, who less than three weeks prior was released on probation for convictions for criminal charges, was allegedly breaching the conditions of that very probation.
An investigation into those allegations commenced.
During the early morning hours on October 28th, a Shelburne Police officer observed the suspect and approached him. As the officer commenced to arrest the suspect, he assaulted the officer causing the officer to fall backwards. A brief foot pursuit ensued and soon after the suspect was located and arrested. No injuries were sustained.
The suspect, 32 year old Ryan Mifsud of Shelburne area, was arrested and charged with three counts of breaching his probation order, one count of assault with intent to resist arrest, and one charge under the Trespass to Property Act.
Mifsud was held in custody for a bail hearing.
