Oh what a glorious Sunday the Lord blessed us with! Pastor Don welcomed us all with a warm smile and offered the service in prayer.
Pastor Don asked the Lord for His blessing and brought forth a message of encouragement. He began by asking, “How full is your Bucket?” and reading Hebrews 10:19-25, let us spur one another….let us not give up meeting with each other. We all like a little pat on the back now and then; when we encourage others we show that the Spirit is living in us. Are you an encourager or a discourager? Do you build people up or tear them down? (Hebrews 3:12-13, 10:24,25) if we don’t encourage each other we are not fulfilling scripture. It is much easier to criticize, many of us have encountered people who are critical, probably even grew up with discouraging words from friends and family. Glory to God we can fill up our buckets by encouraging others; you get back what you yourself give away. We find a great man in scripture as an example to follow; Barnabas. He was the apostle Paul’s encourager, in fact that is what his name means, Son of Encouragement.(Acts 4:34-37, 5:1,2, 9:26,27) Paul wrote 13 books in the new testament greatly by the Spirit filled encouragement of Barnabas. King David is a man who also sought his encouragement from the Lord. (Samuel 30:1-8, 17:34-37). We also can get ours from God. It’s easier sometimes to give up and have a pity party but it doesn’t change any situations and shows our lack of faith and we get discouraged. Praise God; if we turn do him first, He will uplift us, strengthen us and be strong through our weaknesses. (2Corinthians 12:10). We can encourage ourselves by recalling all the times the Lord has delivered us from trouble and heartache. When we remember His goodness it will build our faith. (Psalm 103) God is our wisdom, our strength, our courage our shelter and deliverer. He will not leave us, He is with us, and He is our Shepherd who cares for us, (Psalms 23). Remember Christ’s encouraging words “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. And surely I am with you always till the very end of the age.” (John 14:27, Matthew 28:20). Have a Blessed week as you encourage one another! Amen
