The Shelburne Police Service responded to 108 calls for service between May 19th and May 26th 2013.
2013 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Hosted by Shelburne Police – One Week Away!
On June 6th 2013, Shelburne Police and Special Olympic Athletes will be joined by other area emergency services, community organizations and businesses in a 4.5 km run carrying the Special Olympic Torch through town. The event raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ontario
The run begins at 10:30 a.m. at Fiddle Park (on 2nd line just south of No Frills) and ends at No Frills. The route will include the down town portion of Shelburne.
Partner run teams include Shelburne Police Service, Dufferin OPP, Orangeville Police Service, Dufferin Paramedic Service, Shelburne and District Fire Department, Dufferin Child and Family Services, Town of Shelburne Workers and Council, Georgian College Centre for Employment Services, CDDHS Staff, CDDHS Students, KTH, Scotia Bank (First Street Orangeville), Fines Home Hardware, Trillium Ford, Broken Boards, Pete’s Deli, People’s Credit Union and Shelburne RBC.
Corporate Sponsors include KTH, Orangeville Citizen, Shelburne Free Press, John’s No Frills, Fines Home Hardware, Pete’s Donut’s, Trillium Ford, Highland Companies, Dufferin Auto Centre and Stock Transportation.
Scotia Bank from First Street in Orangeville is matching up to $5000.00 in funds raised at this event.
Come out and watch the event and join in a BBQ at No Frills right after the event. If you would like to run, join one of the run teams by contacting the run team organization or contact PC Neumann at Shelburne Police to create your own run team.
Funds are raised through registering runners, runners collecting pledges, through toonies for torches at Pete’s Donuts, the BBQ at No Frills after the run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and our sponsors.

Last year’s event was successful not only by raising awareness and money for Special Olympics Ontario, but the many members and organizations of the community built positive relationships while working together for a worthy cause.
Amaranth man charged
Shelburne Police launched an investigation after they received a complaint about a theft of jewellery and electronic equipment on May 22nd. All items were able to be located and returned to the rightful owner. As a result of the investigation 26 year old Aaron Kuray of Amaranth Township was arrested and charged with Theft under $5000, Fraud Under $5000 and Possession of Property obtained by crime. This incident together with an unrelated arrest warrant the accused was held for a bail hearing.
Breach
Travis Cuthbert of Orangeville was released by the Orangeville Courts on bail with various conditions after being charged for a Break and Enter. Just before midnight on May 22nd this male was observed by Shelburne Police in an industrial area where no businesses were open. As a result of the investigation Travis Cuthbert was arrested and charged with Breach of Recognizance.
