Shelburne Residence, Retirement Living and Long Term Care is now set up to take clothing donation drop offs for gently used and new clothing to give to the distribution centers in Toronto for the Syrian refugees.
“Canada is expecting to welcome over 25,000 Syrian refuges in the coming months and as all Canadians know our winters come with bone chilling encounter with wind chills. This is a time of year the refuges will need clothing and we will do our best to help,” said Christine Ozimek, C.E.O. of Provincial Long Term Care parent company of Shelburne Residence.
“This year with so many refuges coming into Canada the clothing distribution will be strained by an already overwhelming need of clothing for existing low income families. Any effort on our behalf to collect new and gently used clothing in the communities we have our homes in will benefit everyone,” said Christine Ozimek. “We want to do our part to help. These people have faced great hardship and maybe we can make a difference in being able to provide for them clothing, especially during winter”
Canada’s Immigration Office has identified clothing distribution centers and New Circles is the clothing donation office. They are located in Toronto at 161 Bartley Avenue.
The clothing dropped off at Shelburne Residence will be picked up throughout January and delivered to the New Circles drop off in Toronto for distribution to the refuges and other needed families.
Shelburne Residence is open 24 hours a day and is located at 200 Robert Street, Shelburne 519 925-3746
