After 10 years, Liz Reugg is preparing to it a day at Headwaters Health Care Centre.

The long-time head of the Orangeville-based hospital, where she has served as President and CEO for the past five years, announced her retirement in a statement on Monday.

“I have been fortunate to have spent my career in healthcare and to work alongside people who use their time, talents, and energy every day to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of patients and families,” said Ms. Reugg, who paid particular focus on healthcare within Shelburne. “With the outstanding dedication of our staff, physicians and volunteers, and with the support of our loyal community, Headwaters is poised for success and in continuing to deliver on its vision of an ‘Exceptional Experience Every Time.’”

Ms. Reugg has spent over 40 years in the realm of patient care and community service.

Over the last decade, Ms. Reugg focused on building innovative strategic partnerships across the area to bolster cancer care, dialysis, mental health, and other very important services. Within the Central West LHIN (Local Health Integration Network), she had a significant impact in Shelburne, helping to form the Shelburne Centre for Health to ensure area residents continue to receive the vital care they need in the community.

“Liz is a passionate advocate for safe, quality healthcare that puts patients and families first and, to that end, has been tireless in her commitment to ensuring the community has the services they need close to home, said Headwaters Board Chair Rob Hamilton in a statement. “We thank Liz for her many years of dedicated service to Headwaters Health Care Centre and to the community, and we wish her all the very best as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life.”

Ms. Reugg will continue to serve in her capacity as President and CEO of the hospital through this fall.

The process is now underway to recruit her successor.
