Thank you to members of our community for your generous support. So many of you donated beautiful items for our Silent Auction and so many of you came out on Saturday to purchase gifts and support us in that way.

We raised over $3,000 for new books and resources from the Silent Auction and over $300 through our Book Sale, which is continuing all this week.

Many thanks also go to our staff and volunteers who worked so hard to put everything together in such a beautiful way and thanks also to the various media, Country 105, the Shelburne Free Press and Town of Shelburne who all featured us in their promotions.

Christmas Floral Arrangement Workshop – Sunday, December 18th @ 1:30: We are hosting a floral arrangement workshop, led by Shirley from Shirley’s Garden Supply. You will have a lovely arrangement ready for your Christmas table, mantle or gift giving. There are two styles to choose from this year. The cost is $50 and includes all materials. Please call 519-925-2168 to sign up.

Children’s Programs

There is only one session left for this year for “the Paws to Read Program.” To reserve your time to read to the very patient poodle, Mac, call this week before all the time slots are taken. There are four 15 minute time slots and they are booked quite quickly.

The program is on Wednesdays after school from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. The program will start again in the New Year.

The LEGO club is very busy on Wednesdays after school from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wonderful creations are made and showcased for the week. This week, the children get to create something of their very own choosing. The month of December will feature Christmas related themes, then there will be a break until after Christmas.

Story Time on Friday mornings at 10:30 with all the preschoolers and toddlers is very busy. There are lots of songs, instruments, stories, crafts, and fun learning session for both child and adult, so don’t miss it. The last story time for this year will be Friday, December 16.That makes it only three story times in December.

For any or all our programs please call us at 519-925-2168.

Teen Scene

Last week, our teens created beautiful canvas art using a layered painting technique. This was a VERY messy process, but the end results were worth it. This week, we invite Teens interested in helping plan the Fan-demonium party (taking place Thursday, December 15) to come to the Library at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29. So far we’ve got games and activities for the following fandoms: Harry Potter, Supernatural, The Hunger Games, Shadow Hunters, and bands. Don’t see your Fandom? Gain community service hours by representing your fandom through planning activities for this event.

This is a good way to get involved and create fun events for you and your friends. Our next meeting takes place on Monday, December 5 at 3.30 pm.

This Thursday, December 1, teens will create Christmas Critters using glassware; once again, you should wear old clothes, it’s probably going to be messy.

Teens will also want to register for this year’s YA Gingerbread House Decorating Competition, which takes place Thursday, December 8, from 6:00 – 7:00pm. The theme this year is Winter in Wonderland, so start thinking about how Wonderland would look for Alice and the Cheshire Cat.

Teens can decorate their houses individually or as a team, but we need to know how many competitors there are, so please register no later than Tuesday, December 6th.
