It was so great to see everyone come out to register for the Walk the Wall Challenge!
We have 25 people currently registered, with pedometers available for five more patrons.
You can also complete this challenge using your own tracking device (Fitbit, Apple Watch, etc.). All you have to do is track your steps, report to the library your weekly step total (online, by phone, or in person) to help us walk the distance of the Great Wall of China as a group!
The more participants, the better!
The first check-in date is Saturday, January 14, so call, come in, email, or message our Facebook page to let us know your first week’s step count!
Children’s Programs
Coming to YOUR Library on Tuesday, January 17 at 3.30 p.m., author R.A. Spratt from Australia.
She has written a new series– Friday Barnes girl detective.
R.A. Spratt is an award winning author. She wrote the nine bestselling volumes in Australia, “Nanny Piggins”, plus writing comedy and children’s TV programs. Be sure to join us for a great time.
LEGO starts on Wednesday, January 18 at 3:30 for children in kindergarten and up.
This week’s LEGO theme is snow forts.
Paws to Read begins on Wednesday, January 18 at 3:30 p.m.
This program is for any child who would like to practice his or her reading skills and read to the therapeutic poodle named Mac. He loves listening to someone read to him. You need to book an appointment with Mac. There are four fifteen minute sessions between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Story Time is on Friday, January 20 at 10:30 p.m.

Teen Scene
Starting this week, teens can come to the Library twice a week for programs! On Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., our Writer’s Café program provides the space for Teens to work on a variety of writing projects. They can bring their own projects, or work with the writing prompts we provide. On Thursday evening from 6 – 7 p.m., we will be creating scratchboard CD art.

I am just finishing Joseph Boyden’s new book, Wenjack, a small book in size but powerful in its content… the story of a boy fleeing a residential school in Northern Ontario. The language is lyrical and poignant. Boyden demonstrates his great skill as a writer in a story that is deeply moving and captures the depth of emotion with regard to this sad chapter of our history.
