Holmes Appliances and Music Shop is the happy home of one of Shelburne’s most unique and handcrafted Fiddles and is proudly featured in the shop window for passer by’s to take notice of. Made by artisan, Jim Cheyne in 2003, it was only the second fiddle Cheyne had ever made.
The neck was made from wood from Robinson’s Saw Mill in Shelburne while the Spruce front came from a tree found at the local works department. Originally hand drawn then painted, the artistry is by Sandy Harron and features the 1st female winner of Fiddleville, Eleanor Townsend, 1st seven time winner, Ed Gyurki, Johnny Mooring(reputedly everyone’s favorite), ‘The Invincible’ Vince Mountford, and a Shelburne’s fiddle stage setting is displayed across the back of the fiddle. This eclectic work of art is not just to be visually admired. Greg Holmes owner of Holmes Appliances and Electronics says, “It plays beautifully!”
Head on over to Holmes Appliances & Music Shop to sneak a peek at one the most unique hand crafted fiddle’s around, and it’s all Shelburne from start to finish!
