Impaired driving charges laid against four people over weekend

Dufferin OPP charged four drivers with impaired operation related offences over the weekend.

Three drivers were charged on Saturday, March 2 and one driver was charged on March 3. 

Officers from Dufferin OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot-check on Buena Vista Drive in Mono on March 2, just before 1:30 a.m. A driver entered the area and officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.

Michael KOSZIWKA, a 35-year-old male, from Erin has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Officers from Dufferin OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot-check on Tideman Drive in Orangeville on March 2, just after 8:30 p.m. A driver entered the area and officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.

Christopher OSTERBERG, a 48-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•  Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

Dufferin OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 109, in Amaranth on March 2, just after 11:00 p.m., officers. Officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Quinton KEATS, a 47-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

On March 3, just after 1:30 a.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Mono-Amaranth Townline and Hughson Street in Amaranth. Officers attended the scene and were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Massimo DICECCO, a 29-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•  Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded. None of the listed charges have been proven in court. 

“Dufferin OPP continues to conduct traffic enforcement daily as drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs and who drive at excessive speeds continue to pose a threat to Ontario roads. We are committed to the safety of our community,” said the Dufferin OPP in a press release. “The Dufferin OPP reminds motorist to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, rideshare, public transit or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements. In a split second you could ruin your future, injure, or kill others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you.”
