Shelburne residents have one more month to get out and try the burgers from a variety of local restaurants and submit their vote for the best burger in town.
The Shelburne Business Improvement Area (BIA) will be continuing to host their Best Burger in the ‘Burne’ contest until the end of April.
“It’s going very well so far, engagement with all of the restaurants has been phenomenal,” said Len Guchardi, Shelburne Council representative on the BIA. “We have six phenomenal restaurants in the community and they all serve an amazing burger.”
The local burger contest was first held in 2023 and was developed by the Shelburne BIA as a way of creating traffic for local restaurants in the downtown core, who typically experience slower business in the months of February, March and April.
“The contest was fairly successful last year with a lot of the restaurants getting more traffic, which is the goal,” said Guchardi.
The burger competition has six local restaurants taking part including Beyond the Gate, Shannon’s Tap & Grill, Dufferin Public House, Main Street Café, Sunrise Diner, and Tipsy Fox.
Last year’s winner of the inaugural Best Burger in the ‘Burne’ was the Dufferin Public House, located at 214 Main Street E.
Residents can cast their vote for the best burger by either scanning the QR Code at the restaurant and filling out an electronic ballot or by filling out a paper ballot from the participating restaurant. Paper ballots can be returned directly to the restaurant or can be placed in the 24-hour drop box located at the Town Hall, 203 Main Street East.
All submitted ballots will be entered into a draw, and one lucky “burger connoisseur” will win a $100 gift certificate to the Shelburne BIA merchant of their choice.
The winner of the Best Burger in the ‘Burne’ contest will be announced in early May.
