Hunter shoots himself in the backside

On Friday, November 8, 2013 at approximately 4:29 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report of an injured hunter on the A Line in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The victim, who was alone in a tree stand at the time of the incident, attempted to hang his rifle on a tree hook when it discharged.  The bullet struck him in the buttock.

Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) transported the victim to the Grey Bruce Health Centre in Owen Sound where he was treated for the non-life threatening injury.

The Ministry of Natural Resources was notified.

A 21 year old Owen Sound man was charged with “Use Firearm Carelessly to Hunt” under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
