Hockley Community Hall rich in history

November 21, 2013   ·   0 Comments

Nestled in the village core of Hockley Ontario, stands a quaint little building, currently known as the “Hockley Seniors and Community Hall”. The building was built by the Orange Lodge back in 1894 and was used by the lodge until 1977 when it was put in the care of the seniors group in the village. Ten years ago, a restoration and upgrades were commissioned by the hall committee and have really added a warm feeling to the building while retaining some of its historic elements This hall is a landmark and has been a gathering place for years. Such activities as name entertainers to wedding receptions, fundraisers and even weekly club meetings have and continue to take place at the hall in this picturesque village.

If you are planning an event or are looking for a weekly meeting place for your group or club, look no further. The hall has a fully equipped kitchen, large hardwood floor area, enough room to seat 80 guests, washroom facilities and a large stage with piano. There is also basement storage which can be arranged for an additional fee. Hall rates are very reasonable and they are taking bookings now. For a sneak peek, drop in any Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. for a coffee and muffin social to see for yourself.

For rental inquiries or more information call Celia Simpson 519 941-2961 or Janice Mason 905 729-2626 or email the hall at hallrental@hockleyhall.com
