The Centre Dufferin District High School Royals suffered their seventh loss of the season after giving up a 5–2 game to Centre Wellington District High School at the Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex on Tuesday, Februry 4.

The game was tied in the early going before CWDHS took the lead in the second period and finished off with a pair in the third frame.

Royals goals came from Kyle Latter and Drew Downey.

The Tuesday game up for a game cancelled the previous week due to the weather and bus cancellations.

“I thought our effort was good for about 37 minutes,” Said Royals head coach Bill Bradford. “That fourth goal was a killer. It was 3–2 and we were getting some chances – we had that powerplay. They scored to make it 4–2 and I think we were done there.”

The loss leaves the Royals in the number nine spot in the 12 team league meaning the team will have to go into a playdown to earn a playoff berth.

“We’re going to have to play a qualifying game.” Bradford said. “There’s 12 teams – five get byes, the rest playoff to get three winners, and they are seeded one to eight.”

The team will have to play a tough final series to make the playoffs.

“We’ll keep working on our structure and our systems an things like that. We’ve got lots of injuries right now, we have some good guys that weren’t playing today.”

Orangeville District Second School is currently the front runner winning ten of 11 games and garnering 20 points – leading with three points over the second place team from Ross.

Erin District High School is in the number three spot with 16 points and a 7–5 record.

Playoff information won’t be available until the final few games shake out and the playdown series is completed.
