Time to sign up, Shelburne!

Although Shelburne does not have a Parks and Recreation Department, we thankfully do have a Kim Fraser, Facility Administration Manager located at the Center Dufferin Recreation Complex.

Optimistically preparing for spring, Fraser is calling on all local clubs and groups to be present for free sign up during the following Central Registration dates, Saturday, February 22nd , from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6th from 6 – 8:30 p.m, and Saturday, March 26th from 9:30 a.m-12:30 p.m.

While the CDRC is owned by the City of Shelburne, the complex is run by a board of representatives from the Town of Shelburne, the Town of Mono, the Towships of Melancthon and Amaranth.

Fraser encourages local groups to present themselves and take advantage of this free forum. “Shelburne really has a lot to offer but we need to let people know what’s available. A free opportunity for the groups and clubs to set up a table presents people with opportunities they might not have known existed,” Fraser commented.

With many sports and clubs not advertised, Fraser, a former Shelburnite for a good part of her life recounts how powerful word of mouth can be when trying to find out about a sport but reminds residence as Shelburne grows so do opportunities to take part in many more activities than Shelburne is accustomed to and now public awareness if key to inform residents.

With a wide variety of sports available to Shelburne such as Shelburne Minor Lacrosse, Shelburne Minor Ball Hockey, Shelburne Soccer Club, Shelburne Minor Fastball, Mansfield Baseball (Hardball) a general surprise to some is that even Cricket is offered. For those interested in literary avenues, a number of wonderful programs are offered at the Shelburne Public Library, just one of many clubs hoping to attend the Central Registration dates.
