Darren White files nomination papers for mayoral race in Melancthon

Darren White,  current Deputy Mayor for the Township of Melancthon and Councillor for the County of Dufferin filed nomination papers at the Melancthon Township municipal offices in a bid to become the next Mayor of the Township this morning (March 6th) at 8:30 a.m.

Mr. White has been the Deputy Mayor of Melancthon Township for the past four years and a Councillor for a short time before that.

As Deputy Mayor, Mr. White has been part of many groups including: The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, The Mulmur Melancthon Fire Department Board of Management, Horning’s Mills Hall Board and more.

As a Dufferin Councillor, White served on the Community Services Committee, as well as the Community Development Committee and was heavily involved in projects such as the Edelbrock center, the Grey Dynes apartments, as well as working towards more health services at the Shelburne Center for Health, and a sustainable waste management solution for the county.

Mr. White says he pledges to continue to work towards a fiscally responsible and sustainable municipal government for the residents of the Township of Melancthon with key goals such as: advocating at the Provincial level for responsible aggregate policies, local planning authority for green energy projects, and sound land use planning in agricultural areas.
