Shelburne’s first Reel Youth Film Festival a huge success

April 5, 2014   ·   0 Comments

For the very first time, the Reel Youth Film festival came to Shelburne courtesy of Soaring Heart Wellness owners, Ellen Brakel and Joey Lemieux.

What a treat to see 26 short films submitted from kids across the world who were 19 years old and younger. To witness such future talent was truly a gift and the audience agreed especially when Shelburne’s own submissions arrived on the big screen.

Local submissions included short films, ‘Life of Gus’ by Wiley, Henry, and Franny McGowan; ‘Game of Tag’ by Rachel Litherland, Medeleine Hill, Hayley Litherland, Ella Anderson, Lila Warren, Merida Moffal, and Nicole Sharkey; ‘Stop Bullying’ by Lindsay Johns, Ashlynd Martin, Kaylyn Robson, Riley Robson, Alyssa and Zach Montgomery; ‘Perfection’ by Lila Warren, and ‘The Dream’ by Ella Hawkins, Catherine Marleau, Rossalyn Kennedy, Samantha Weisner, Rossan Mangat.

Brakel was pleased with her first year’s turn out and is hoping more submissions will be made for next year’s film festival showcasing the talent of Shelburne’s youth making a difference.
